In my "build everything" tree, changing sysemu/sysemu.h triggers a recompile of some 5400 out of 6600 objects (not counting tests and objects that don't depend on qemu/osdep.h). hw/qdev-core.h includes sysemu/sysemu.h since recent commit e965ffa7 "qdev: add qdev_add_vm_change_state_handler()". This is a bad idea: hw/qdev-core.h is widely included. Move the declaration of qdev_add_vm_change_state_handler() to sysemu/sysemu.h, and drop the problematic include from hw/qdev-core.h. Touching sysemu/sysemu.h now recompiles some 1800 objects. qemu/uuid.h also drops from 5400 to 1800. A few more headers show smaller improvement: qemu/notify.h drops from 5600 to 5200, qemu/timer.h from 5600 to 4500, and qapi/qapi-types-run-state.h from 5500 to 5000. This patch adds the basic boilerplate for a 'XenBus' object that will act as a parent to 'XenDevice' PV backends. A new 'XenBridge' object is also added to connect XenBus to the system bus. The XenBus object is instantiated by a new xen_bus_init() function called from the same sites as the legacy xen_be_init() function. Subsequent patches will flesh-out the functionality of these objects. Signed-off-by:

Hence it is necessary to re-name parts of existing code to avoid name clashes. The re-named 'legacy' infrastructure will be removed once all backends have been ported to the new framework. Time to wire up all the call sites that request a shutdown or reset to use the enum added in the previous patch. It would have been less churn to keep the common case with no arguments as meaning guest-triggered, and only modified the host-triggered code paths, via a wrapper function, but then we'd still have to audit that I didn't miss any host-triggered spots; changing the signature forces us to double-check that I correctly categorized all callers. Since command line options can change whether a guest reset request causes an actual reset vs. a shutdown, it's easy to also add the information to reset requests. Signed-off-by:

Device models should access their block backends only through the block-backend.h API. Convert them, and drop direct includes of inappropriate headers. Just four uses of BlockDriverState are left: * The Xen paravirtual block device backend (xen_disk.c) opens images itself when set up via xenbus, bypassing blockdev.c. I figure it should go through qmp_blockdev_add() instead. * Device model "usb-storage" prompts for keys. No other device model does, and this one probably shouldn't do it, either. * ide_issue_trim_cb() uses bdrv_aio_discard() instead of blk_aio_discard() because it fishes its backend out of a BlockAIOCB, which has only the BlockDriverState. * PC87312State has an unused BlockDriverState[] member.
